Carter Williams returns to JHR Developments for BRDC British F3 Championship
JHR Developments is pleased to announce that Carter Williams will compete with the team in the BRDC British F3 Championship during the 2020 season.
Hailing from Clovis California, Carter had a successful season with the team last year, taking three wins and six podium finishes in the F4 British Championship. He has also worked closely with his team-mates on JHR’s bespoke simulator as well as helping with race preparation.
Having secured two podiums in the British F3 iRacing Championship during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite competing in a strong field which included two Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Award winners, the 21-year old will step up to the British F3 Championship for a limited number of events as budget allows, before aiming for a full season campaign in 2021.
The revised 2020 calendar begins with a gruelling four-race opening weekend alongside the British GT Championship at Oulton Park over August 1/2, travelling over the UK before finishing on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in November.
“It’s very exciting and I can't wait to get going. We’re planning to do a few rounds of the season right now, though I am not sure exactly which ones, and mostly some testing other than that. I'll be in the UK until at least November, so I'll be at the track helping out. If I'm not racing, I’ll definitely be around pretty much any time the team is at a circuit.
“The Tatuus BF3-020 is a different style than I raced in F4 last season: it has more downforce, more tyre grip, and is just a bit quicker, and I am thankful that Steven gave us the opportunity to come and do some racing in the BRDC British F3 Championship.
“It's definitely turning into a family for me with JHR; we're doing some coaching for the guys in F4 and on the sim, so I’m continuing to gel with everyone at the team and helping to try and get the best outcome for everyone when we get to the circuit.
“I also want to thank Packaging Solution, Master Suites, Molecule Labs, Bell Racing, Williams Fence Company, Brave Energy Drink, and Soul of Nomad for their support as I move into the BRDC British F3 Championship.”
Steven Hunter, Team Manager
“We are really happy to have Carter back with us for as much of the 2020 BRDC British F3 Championship as his budget will allow. He was a pleasure to have as part of the team last season and demonstrated his work ethic with all the extra effort he put in off track, as well as on it.
“He is a race winner and was able to go up against rivals in F4 who were able to test constantly, so he has proved his ability on track. Everyone at the team is excited to make our debut in the series, adding a further chapter to the successful history of JHR Developments.”
