Sulaiman and Skelton shine as Simmons solidifies second place in championship
Josh Skelton equalled his best result of the F4 British Championship season and Manuel Sulaiman bounced back with his best weekend of the year to date as JHR Developments headed to Croft in Yorkshire. Meanwhile, Ayrton Simmons made the most of a tough weekend to score valuable points to sit second place in the championship standings.
Title hopeful Simmons scored two fifth-place finishes but suffered a retirement for technical reasons when starting from the front-row in the second race of the weekend, meaning the Epping-native now has a little ground to make up to regain top spot after the mid-season break.
Rookie Skelton finished an impressive fifth during race two, bringing himself back into the fight for third place, coming in less than one second behind the podium places. Unfortunately, he was taken out at the hairpin during race three, his opponent receiving a ten-place grid penalty at the next race for the move.
Sulaiman had a trio of top-eight finishes across the weekend, with a best result of sixth in race two. The Mexican now sits just ten points behind Skelton in the championship standings and will hope to use the strong weekend running to spearhead a renewed attack for the second half of the season.
