European karting star Skelton joins JHR Developments for F4 campaign
17-year old Karting star Josh Skelton will make his car racing debut in 2018 as he competes in the F4 British Championship with JHR Developments – the only team to have won races in every series on the TOCA package. Cumbrian Skelton joins a stellar line up at JHR as he progresses into single-seaters alongside Manuel Sulaiman and Ayrton Simmons.
Skelton won’t be resting on his laurels in F4, as he sets his sights on the Rookie honours. “I am delighted to join JHR Developments for 2018,” he said. “It has such an incredible record of getting the best from young drivers and helping them achieve high levels of success. With the help I am getting from team-mates Ayrton and Manuel I hope to repay the confidence my sponsors Alpine Stars, Skelton Joinery, and BJ Human Performance have shown in me by bringing home some great results.”
“We are absolutely delighted to have attracted such a highly talented driver as Josh to join us for his first season in car racing,” said Steven Hunter, Team Principal at JHR Developments. “Whilst he will be a true rookie and needs to familiarise himself with the circuits, he has shown us that he has an exceptional ability to learn quickly and we fully think he has the ability to be sharp end of the grid before long.”
The F4 British Championship season begins at Brands Hatch on its Indy circuit with qualifying at 09:00 on Saturday April 7. The opening two 20-minute races of the season take place that afternoon at 14:15 and 17:40, with the third live on ITV4 at 15:05 on Sunday April 8.
