Max Marzorati joins JHR Developments for BRDC British F3 Championship
Exciting racer Max Marzorati will bolster JHR Developments line up for the BRDC British F3 Championship as he competes in select rounds of the 2020 season with the team.
Max made his mark as a 17-year old in the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior series in 2017, taking three wins and finishing third in the standings and has spent the past two years racing Formula Fords, as well as representing the team in the British F3 iRacing Championship.
Stepping into the challenging BRDC British F3 Championship, the newly turned 20-year old will join JHR returnee Carter Williams as the team expands its successful programme, providing a logical step for drivers looking to progress from the F4 British Championship.
The Harrow-based driver, who’s racing hero is the legendary Gilles Villeneuve, will tackle four rounds of the championship, comprising 15 of the 24 races of the season, but has his sights firmly set on moving to the front of the grid and taking race wins.
The BRDC British F3 Championship gets underway at Oulton Park at the start of August, while Max will make his first appearance over the weekend of August 15/16 at Donington Park.
“Our relationship with JHR Developments goes back to 2015, when we did some tests in their Ginetta Junior car. We stayed in contact and then at the end of 2018 they offered us a test in the F4 car. For this year we got together and had the idea to do British F3 and so far, I am loving it! It is brilliant and just keeps on giving. I’m just so happy that JHR has given me the opportunity to drive the car. I can't wait to get the season underway.
“I am aiming for wins straight away. I want to be at the front as soon as possible; that’s the target. There’s no point mucking about mid-grid. I’m fully appreciative of what it takes in terms of funding to even think about something like F3, but, being realistic, we can’t afford the luxury of endless testing or two sets of new tyres every session – we are on two new sets for the whole day, so we need to be clever in our approach.
“I already feel at home with JHR – I’ve even picked up some northern dialect having ‘quarantined’ at their workshops up near Sheffield! They’ve been successful in other categories and we are definitely looking to build momentum together. I genuinely believe we can give a good account of ourselves and come away with some decent results.”
Steven Hunter, Team Manager
"We are really happy to have Max join the JHR family. We’ve had a relationship with him over a number of years as he has tested with us in different cars, so it’s nice to finally get him into a race seat. He has made good progress in testing so far and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do. He’s well placed compared to others who have done a lot more mileage and he could definitely spring a surprise when he gets on track.
“This is an ideal time for us to join the BRDC British F3 Championship. We have been working on this for some time and have had the cars, and with the new upgrades we are confident of being very competitive. We’ve a proven track record after twenty-five years in the business and this is a natural extension of our ambitions. We have some great people working in the team and are relishing the challenge alongside our F4 programme.”
